How To Spice Up Your At-Home Date Night This Valentine’s Day

If you are wondering, yes, Valentine’s Day DOES matter. Why not celebrate the one you love a little extra, right?

Life is crazy, and especially in the season of raising babies, it’s easy to forget the simple pleasures that bring us closer to our love. I want to talk about how to create a special date night at home this year. No need to find a safe and reliable sitter or fork over the entire date budget on just the childcare. No need to worry about bedtime or getting back at a certain time.

Let’s chat about how to make those special moments and memories right in your living room.

The important step here is being INTENTIONAL. Make it special, friends. For us, that means eating dinner in the living room and I will chat about why.

The Art of Intentional At-Home Dating

Simple is key here. If you make it too complicated, it won’t happen and it will cause more stress and defeat the purpose. Let’s actively create a space for affection and love to just grow. Connecting with your person is so important, no matter what season of life.

We love a charcuterie-style meal. It is fun and pretty and easy! I like to use my ottoman as a little table and empty my fridge with all the fixins’ and lay them out on a platter in the living room. This is fun and unique to us and it makes the date more “special” to do something different.

Entertainment

We are big documentary fans and sometimes it is hard to pick one that both of us like, normally we can agree on something.

My List (usually with a bit of a husband eye roll):

  • “The Trust”- A quick watch but it gave me all the feels about trust and loyalty in people.

  • “The Crown” -I’m a huge Princess Diana fan! This shows the monarchy on both sides!

  • “Fried green tomatoes”- I watch it at least once a year. Love!

  • “Snow Society”- Very difficult to watch but I love movies based on true life events.

  • “Grey's Anatomy” - I’ve watched this front to back about 4 times. It’s just something now that I can listen to while I work, cook, or relax.

  • “Sex in the City” (movies and show!)- We girls have to stick together!!!!

P.S. I’ve got a very old soul.

Our List (Jordan, my husband approved):

  • “Suits”

  • “Step Brothers”

  • “Blacklist”

  • “Yellowstone”

  • “Happy Gimore”

Here is a list of our recent favorite movies and documentaries:

Games are another fun activity we like! It might even evoke your competitive spirit and give a bit more of the laughs and connection piece compared to a movie.

Here are some fun and easy games we like to play:

Wanting to be a bit spicy this Valentine’s Day?

Ladies, there isn’t anything quite like the confidence a bit of lingerie gives you. I promise that not only will your man love it, but so will you! Have fun eating dinner and playing games in lingerie or surprise him at the end of the night.

Not sure what to buy? Here is one of my fun and confidence-boosting lingerie pieces that are affordable and pretty with a hint of sexy.

If you aren’t ready to just go full force with lingerie only, here is a bodysuit that you can wear styled as part of an outfit…before the after-party! ;)

The Best Valentine’s Gift Of All

Spending quality, one-on-one time with your spouse is truly the best gift of all. It cannot be bought or sold but it comes with the highest price tag. Don’t budget or be frugal with your time when it comes to your relationship. You will never regret taking the time to show your person how much you love them.

A simple, at-home date night to show your person how much you love them will benefit both of you and create lasting memories.
