Darrington Kitchen

This was operation turn the peninsula into an island! It was very important for the client to have a functional baking oasis, this island hold all of her baking necessities. With drawers for utensils and baking goods and a cabinet for her Kitchen Aid stand mixer, everything is centrally located whenever she wants to whip something up! Equally important was having a place for her family to gather around the island so they could spend time together while she was baking or making dinner. This was also the perfect set up for hosting friends and family!

Notice the Knotty Elder cabinets located on the perimeter of the kitchen, these are original the home. Since we were able to repurpose cabinets from the peninsula we removed to fill the gap between the dishwasher and sliding glass door, the client only had to purchase one upper cabinet and the island cabinets (black). Although we kept the original cabinets, we updated the hardware to a more modern look. Note: with moving the peninsula, new flooring was installed.

Pro tip: The countertop on the island can be a different material than the perimeter countertop to make a statement!
