Savvy Simplicity: Designing a Functional and Fun Kitchen Counter

In a world where the trend seems to be "more is more," standing against the grain and embracing simplicity when decorating your kitchen can be truly refreshing.

When it comes to your kitchen countertop decor, it's all about finding the right balance between functionality and fun. I know, it might be tempting to follow the trends and pile up your counters with all sorts of items, BUT there are hacks to creating a chic yet uncluttered space. Today, I want to share with you, some creative ways to decorate your kitchen countertops all while keeping it simple elegant, and functional. You know I love that functionality.

Let’s Elevate That Counter Decor

Risers can work wonders in adding a touch of decor to your countertop while keeping things off of the main space. There are so many choices, wood, marble, or concrete, these materials bring a sense of texture and visual interest that gives your kitchen those “clean girl” esthetic vibes. The beauty of risers is in their ability to provide a designated space for everyday items like coffee mugs, small plants, or even grinders and coffee supplies. This way, you can infuse a hint of decor without overwhelming the space. Imagine making your morning coffee and enjoying a special space you created and love – we are all about little luxuries.

Multi-Functional Cookbooks For Kitchen Decor

Who said cookbooks were only for recipes? A clever way to add dimension to your countertop is by using cookbooks as risers. Simply stack a few of your favorite cookbooks horizontally and place a small plant on top. Real plant or fake one, this setup adds a touch of greenery to your kitchen without the commitment of keeping a live plant alive. Plus, the cookbooks remain super accessible for when you’re feeling inspired and serve as a stylish piece for your counter.

Bringing In Warmth into Counter Decoration

A candle is more than just a glow; it's a fun decor element that brings warmth and vibe to your kitchen. I recommend choosing a beautifully designed candle that matches your kitchen and smells amazing.  I like choosing candles that make my house smell clean and fresh, but some other ideas are a warmer vanilla or pumpkin scent for fall.

We like Function in the Kitchen

You know me, the function never takes a back seat when it comes to decorating, but this is especially true for our countertops. Maximize this space by arranging 2-3 cutting boards horizontally along the backsplash. This not only adds visual stimulation but also serves a practical purpose. Secure the cutting boards in place with a candle or a small potted plant. For the tea lovers, consider using canisters filled with your favorite tea blends and honey. Every item has a purpose…purposeful decor is KEY.

Clear Kitchen Counters Make Life Easier

Keeping your countertop clutter-free is an ongoing challenge…I think it is for everyone.  However, with a little effort, you can reclaim your space. Consider using a sticky paper towel holder underneath your cabinets as a discreet storage solution. This small change can free up valuable counter space and make your kitchen feel more organized. Remember, the less clutter you have on your countertop, the more presentable and inviting it becomes without spending a dime or having much effort.

Decorating your kitchen countertop is an opportunity to express your style while maintaining functionality. By adopting a less-is-more approach, you can create a visually appealing, organized, and inviting space. The key is to select decor pieces that serve a purpose beyond just their aesthetics.
